Beets
While studying the history of Heemstede Castle, a Dutch castle located in Houten the Netherlands, I came across a sales deed from 1922. The sales deed was issued by the notary office H. A. Beets in Utrecht between 1908 and 1925. I was captivated by the typeface used in the deed and decided to digitize and create a new interpretation.
Beets can be described as a quirky serif typeface, sharing some similarities with Victorian typefaces. This typeface is still a work in progress, with only uppercase letters currently needing a few minor tweaks. Other characters are still in full development. If you’re interested, feel free to send an email.
