Makkelijk Midden-Oosters
Makkelijk Midden-Oosters (Easy Middle East) is a cookbook initiated by Erin Groot. After her trip to Lesbos, doing volunteering at the refugee camps, she became fascinated by the power of connecting with people by food. Back in the Netherlands she realized a lot of dutch people barely know anything about the refugees aka their new neighbours. That's how she came up with the idea to develop a cookbook for the Dutch market, to connect people. And at the same time, the buyer will support charity organisations for refugees because all proceeds will be donated.
The book is inspired by six refugees from Syria and Iraq and has more than 50 Middle Eastern recipies. Quick and easy to make and ingredients that are available at local supermarkets.
Initiator: Erin Groot
Texts: Erin Groot, Quint Henrion Verpoorten
Art Direction & Design: Matthew van Ede van der Pals
Photography: Rosie Beare
Foodstyling and Recipe Development: Jenneke Wieringa, Ellis van Kempen, Nerissa Haak
